Thanks for stopping by. I’ll try to be entertaining as you skim read what I am all about. If you are on the web or social media sites, you may come across my name and not realize it’s the big guy in the picture above. 🙂
Since my name is very popular and there are many James Brown’s and Jimmy Brown’s in the internet world, you may get confused like many people and think I am the Godfather of PLR….Jimmy D. Brown. Alas I am not. I would love to be him. He made a fortune with the idea of PLR and many credit him with inventing the idea. Depending on what area I am working in, I use different forms of my name. On Facebook, I am Jimmy Brown. In PLR and Amazon Kindle, I am known as James W. Brown.
I’m married to a very beautiful and talented Vietnamese woman. As of 2018, we have been married for 26 years and I have an adult son. They both go by the last name of Nguyen-Brown and for years I thought they were the only Nguyen-Brown’s in the world. And then boom, I was looking at marital arts websites, because my son and I are both high level martial artists and I spot a brother and sister in the United States. And lo and behold, they are Taekwondo black belts with the last name Nguyen-Brown.
I retired from 36 years of high profile security in 2018 at the age of 62. I worked many years for Four Seasons and Sheraton hotels, finally finishing up at the ROM. While at the ROM in Toronto, I worked only 2.5 days a week. I did this so I could devote time to building an online biz. I was never able to find that click a button and make $10K a month, although like most, I tried really hard.
I studied freelance copy writing with AWAI and then worked in that field and ghostwriting for a number of years. I started dabbling in PLR because I liked the fact that I did not have to work hand in hand with clients, which can be very demanding. PLR allows me to work at my pace and in the background. In fact my tagline is, “digital hermit, rather than the normal, digital nomad.” I have no interest in sitting on a beach in Thailand with a laptop, although I do have friends that live that lifestyle.
I’m an avid reader and that shows when I create PLR. I do not have a photographic memory but I do have an amazing ability to store facts about whatever I have read in my life. When I am doing research for PLR and then writing it, often I can recall something I read many years ago and incorporate that into my copy.
Along the way, I’ve had the chance to learn from many people like Tiffany Lambert, whose banner you see on my homepage. She has written a vast amount of PLR, on a very wide range of topics. That is not recommended for new PLR content creators. You need a very special ability to write about health and then switch to woodworking. I believe I could do it but prefer to stick to Health and Fitness, which I have been writing about for years…and Self-Development. Self-Development is huge. (You can see one of products I did on Self-Development with Chad Eljisr…called “The 90 Day Action Plan.” We had a massive launch sale and currently this DFY bundle is priced at $47 on JvZoo)
I had many issues over my life as my upbringing was all over the board. Through Self-Development, I was able to change my mindset and create a life that suits me. That doesn’t include sports cars and big houses. If not for my wife, I would have a Jeep and live in a secluded cabin in the woods. Creating/using PLR, allows me to have that choice. I can work anywhere, anytime…but for me, it is in my condo, not in the hot sun with blowing sand.:)
I hope you spend time looking around at my site and if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.
