What are Resale Rights Products?
Having the Resale Rights to a product pretty much means just what it says. You have permission to ‘Resell’ that specific product. Usually, if you are talking just about plain resale rights, then it would mean you can’t edit the product or claim authorship, you just sell it as it is. So when you purchase a product or products with just resale rights, are only able to sell them as-is to your customers who will only have personal use rights.
Some PLR products do come with reell rights. In this case, you usually do not have to edit the product, just resell it at a price that makes you profit. If you already have a good source of traffic, picking up the PLR rights to say, a video course on Facebook marketing, could make you a great profit.
A lot of software products and wordpress plug in’s come with resale rights and master resell rights. Be sure to carefully read the description of what you are allowed to do with the product, before you make your purchase.
With personal use rights, they are not allowed to sell them or give them away to others. Personal use rights are the standard for most products or courses you might buy. This is usually not talked about as having ‘rights’ to the product, but it is generally understood that you can only use it for your own personal use.
There are of course, different types of rights you purchase with different products.
You can also get MRR or Master Resale Rights. These types of rights come with less limits than resale rights. To give an example, if you have master resale rights you can then pass on the resell rights to your customers, so not only can you sell it, but they can also, but they only get the resale rights, so they cannot pass it onto their customers.
You still do not have the right to edit the product though, it must stay the same, so you do not have the editable files and your customers can sell the product as it is, but only pass on the PR (personal rights) to their customers.
In addition to RR, and MRR you can also purchase products with PLR or Private Label Rights, and if this is included, then you get the original files so you can edit it and you can also claim authorship. Often you can also sell the MRR and RR with your final product if you wish to pass that on to your customers, but you cannot provide them with the PLR rights.
There are some cases where you can buy Resale Rights PLR which means that you can sell that product as it is, including the editable files and pass on the private label rights to your customers but this is not the general case with normal PLR. It must be specifically stated that you have the rights to pass on the PLR to your customers.
It’s really important you play by the rules with product rights as it can mean that your website can be shut down among other things if you get caught, and people often get found out. It’s not worth the risk.
What is so Good about Resale Rights?
Given there are several different options available what is so good about Resale Rights products?
Firstly, let’s look at this from the customer’s perspective.
If you are new to online marketing, you don’t have a large budget and maybe you don’t have a lot of time either, then if you can obtain the RR to a quality product it’s a great way to start. Sometimes you can even get them for free but the most important thing is to ensure you have top quality.
The other point is you are likely inexperienced and so don’t have the expertise or the authority to create your own products. Having good quality resale rights products is a great way to start your inventory of products to sell. It will help to build your authority in the marketplace and potentially give you a starting point for earning some income while getting started.
You don’t have to be a newbie to make use of RR products thought. Another really great way to use them is for offering as a bonus with something else you are selling. This is how you can help to make your offer a ‘no-brainer’ for your customer, by including a couple of well-chosen bonus products that complement the main offer.
Secondly, we can see it more from the point of view of the creator of the product who is selling the Resale Rights.
Why would you want to offer a product with resale rights to your clients? Well, to put it simply, it’s another way to promote yourself and your business.
Because the RR product is not edited and includes all your branding as well as your links to products and or services you offer, then your customers who sell them are building your authority in your niche. This is another way to get potential clients or subscribers back to your website, so they can get to know, like and trust you.
Basically, resale rights products provide a great way for people to provide great quality products to their clients without having to do all the work to create them. It also helps to give them authority by association.
In addition to the original product provider, it is potentially spreading the word and creating a way to get qualified traffic back to their website where they can potentially add value for their community and continue to serve them and market to them in the future.
P.S. I have conversation starters on my blog for those who want to comment but aren’t sure how to reach out.
All the best,
